Week of July 6th

Hi everyone,

The last leadership challenge is called, Enable Others to Act.  Since this week's blog has a low response, please respond to this week's AND last week's blog if you have not done so.  I can tell the summer fun is well under way...that is a good thing!

I will email you the field visit schedule for Wednesday, July 8th.  Also, I have my new Park Ridge Email up and running.  Finally, We will meet for our final class at Champs in Old Orchard Mall across from Niles North HS at 5pm.  I was unable to reserve a room at the HS.

Week of June 29th

Hi everyone,

I am on a family vacation in Disney World so this is my excuse for being late with the latest blog posting. I hope your summer is going well. Over the weekend I will post the schedule for my second field visit on July 8th. Please call me on my cell phone since my new email has not been activated yet.

Week of June 15th:

For the next 2 weeks you will have time to post a blog on you "community paper" or your "policy paper".  In addition, you are expected to respond to another blog post.  I am in the process of changing my email address so I will post the new email when it becomes available.  

Also, I am planning visits for Tuesday, June 23rd.  I will email a confirmation timeline to everyone soon so you know when I am coming to your campus.

Week of June 5th:

Enable Others to Act 
Leaders foster collaboration and build spirited teams. They actively involve others. Leaders understand that mutual respect is what sustains extraordinary efforts; they strive to create an atmosphere of trust and human dignity. They strengthen others, making each person feel capable and powerful.  

We will meet for class this week on Wednesday, June 10th at 4:30 at Niles North HS.  

The June 15th blog will focus on your "policy paper" or "community paper" depending on which course you are taking.  Review your syllabus for details.  Instead of writing a paper, post your blog and respond to another student's.

Week of June 1st:

Great work group!  This week's blog focuses on the motivation behind good school leaders.  We choose to improve our organization by challenging the process and instilling change.  Blog a response to the approach leaders practice, "Challenge the Process".  Read the description provided to you in the handout during our first class.  The website link below, "The Leadership Challenge" can be used as a guide.  Click under "About the Leadership Challenge" then "Approach" to find a description of each leadership practice.  I look forward to reading your blogs!

Week of May 25th:

We are off to a great start everyone!  This week's blog is about "Inspiring A Shared Vision"---one of my favorite practices.  It communicates to others what we believe and motivates colleagues to "get in the game".
